We have the pleasure to introduce to you mourelo, our own olive oil.

The name “mourelo” in Crete, in the local dialect, means “olive tree.” The same meaning is represented by the ideogram:

according to Linear A & B scripts. Linear A was the first script that appeared during the Minoan period in Crete around the 17th century BCE.

All the quantity we produce comes from a single and unique Olive Grove.
It is composed 100% of the koroneiki variety, the traditional variety of Greece considered the queen of Greek varieties.

The Olive Grove is located on a south-facing slope, harnessing the sunlight and its benefits throughout the day. The Olive Grove is not irrigated, resulting in the trees developing a strong and deep root system in search of water and nourishment. It has been observed that dry-farmed olive groves produce intensely flavorful olive oil with a higher concentration of polyphenols.
Harvesting begins early, within the first fortnight of October, when the fruit is still unripe, allowing us to produce an early harvest olive oil rich in polyphenols.

The quantity we collect is transported to the olive mill within a few hours, ensuring the fruit remains unaltered before the pressing process, which takes place using state-of-the-art methods in modern facilities, yielding the best possible outcome.
Subsequently, the produced olive oil is stored in our premises in stainless steel tanks under ideal temperature and humidity conditions until it is bottled.

All of the above contribute to producing a unique, high-quality olive oil that stands out with its aromatic character and rich taste. With a moderate aromatic intensity, it releases various aromas of grass, olive blossoms, wild herbs, and a flavor characterized by a mild to intense bitterness on the palate and a peppery sensation in the throat.

Thus, our own polyphenolic extra virgin olive oil is produced.
